Wolverhampton-Notthingham Forest, the probable formations

The first Premier League Monday night as far as 2025 is concerned is staged at the 'Molineux Stadium' in Wolverhampton, where the host Wolves will face Nottingham Forest in the match valid for the 20th day of the English top league. It will be a challenge between a team fighting for salvation and one, now no longer surprise, in the top positions.

Wolverhampton ended 2024 with a triptych of games without defeat, able to bring as many as 10 points after only six had come in the previous 16 games. The team coached by Vitor Pereira, who arrived to replace Gary O'Neil before Christmas, won 3-0 at Leicester and 2-0 against Manchester United at home, before drawing 2-2 against Tottenham.

On the other side there's a Forest (coached by a former of Nuno Espirito Santo's caliber) in nothing short of fine form, capable of ending the calendar year with five straight successes that are worth their presence in the Champions League zone: after the thud (0-3) in Manchester against City in early December, victories came against Manchester United (3-2), Aston Villa (2-1), Brentford (2-0), Tottenham (1-0) and Everton (2-0). The referee for Monday's challenge will be 42-year-old Peter Bankes.

Probable lineups:

Wolverhampton (3-4-2-1): José Sá; Doherty, Bueno, Dawson; Semedo, Joao Gomes, André, Nouri; Hwuang, Guedes, Larsen. All. Pereira.

Nottingham Forest (4-2-3-1): Sels; Aina, Milenkovic, Murillo, Williams; Yates, Anderson; Elanga, Gibbs-White, Sosa; Wood. All. Espirito Santo.
