On the one hand the bitterness over a third place, on the other the immense disappointment over a new fall.

Bitter SuperG for blue women’s skiing in St. Anton. The event ended with a third-place finish for Federica Brignone, edged out by 0.92 by U.S. skier Lauren Macuga (who finished in 1.17.51) and also by Austria&#39s Stephanie Venier after the Italian won Saturday&#39s downhill. Even more hurt forò the new fall of Sofia Goggia, which occurred when the Bergamasque was virtually in the Top 5 with the possibility of even winning.

So the haunted weekend continues for Sofia Goggia, on her second 0 in two World Cup days in St. Anton. After the fall in the downhill è came also the one in the women’s SuperG, when moreover the champion from Bergamo was ahead of all by 0.15 at the last chronometric survey before jumping a gate in the final of her run, going into a spin and tumbling on the ground.

The St. Anton course is in any case confirmed to be bewitched for Sofia Goggia, who before her double withdrawal in 2025 had exited two other times in a row in the Austrian resort: in fact, it had also happened in 2021 and 2023, in both cases always in SuperG. The only race all'active completed, for her, remains the January 2021 downhill. That, moreover, ended with her winning.

It was also a disappointing day for Federica Brignone, who was affected by the poor visibility of the slope at the time of her run. For the Valle d’Aosta woman, after the beautiful victory in the downhill, è a cautious trial was necessary in which it proves difficult to guess the perfect trajectory. So comes a third place, however useful to accumulate points in the World Cup. Those points that, for Sofia Goggia, in Austria did not really come.
