Matteo Berrettini is a hammer: good first one
The Wimbledon finalist put up an impressive 32 aces
Matteo Berrettini was very much looking forward to it. Doing well in his debut at the Australian Open, the first Slam of the season, was an important goal for the Italian who, in fact, played a great match against Cameron Norrie, managing to get the better of him in four, very hard-fought sets (6-7, 6-4, 6-1, 6-3 the partials).
The Hammer, supported by many fans in Melbourne, started well but lost the first partial at the tie-break. The Azure's reaction è vehement. Thanks to his serve (32 total aces), he gets out of trouble on a couple of occasions and closes 6-4.
The victory of the second set exalts Matteo Berrettini who, in the third partial, è literally indemonized. He plays at a very high level and, in about half an hour of play, closes the set (6-1). Although with some less energy, Matteo Berrettini kept pushing and managed to make the decisive fourth set his as well (6-3), bringing home a very important success.
"È it has been a long time since I won a match at the Australian Open, so I am very happy", his words in the post match. Having overcome the Cameron Norrie obstacle, Matteo Berrettini will challenge, in the second round in Melbourne, Denmark’s Holger Rune, who overcame China’s Zhang Zhizhen in five sets. The record smiles on the Dane (3-1 and last three comparisons won).
