Dead Denis Law, Manchester United legend who also played for Torino

È died at age 84 Denis Law, a legend of Scottish soccer and Manchester United. Born in Aberdeen on Feb. 24, 1940, he made his professional debut for Huddersfield Town, where he played until 1960. After a season at Manchester City, with 30 games and 18 goals, he landed at Torino.

The 1961-1962 year at the granata was the only one in which Law played outside England, scoring 28 appearances and 10 goals. Leaving the Piedmontese capital he returned to play in Manchester but for United, where with Bobby Charlton and George Best he formed a legendary attacking trio.

With the Red Devils from 1962 to 1973 he put together between all competitions 397 appearances and 237 goals, winning an FA Cup (1963), two First Divisions (1964-1965 and 1966-1967), two Charity Shields (1965 and 1967) and a Champions Cup (1967-1968).

As individual awards he è won the Ballon d’d’Or in 1964 and the title of top scorer in the 1964-1965 Fairs Cup (8 goals) and the 1968-1969 Champions Cup(9 goals). With Scotland he played 55 games scoring 30 goals

His last game with the national team was also the only one he played in a World Cup final, Scotland-Zaire in 1974, the year he ended his career with one more season at Manchester City after playing eleven with United’s “cousins”.
