Jannik Sinner in the crosshairs: Holger Rune’s strategy to beat him

A strategy already ready for the big challenge.
Holger Rune will be Jannik Sinner's next opponent at the Australian Open, certainly no small challenge for the San Candido outfielder as the precedents between the two show. And it is no coincidence that the Dane spoke to his country's press, putting in his sights the eighth final that will see the two play each other in Melbourne.
"After the last match, I feel relatively optimistic,” Rune explained to 'Ekstrabladet'. “Against Kecmanovic I had to run a lot, and against Sinner I will have to do the same thing to give myself a chance to win against him as well. I have to make my legs respond, to play like in the fifth set of the last match. And I will have to command the exchanges, because he will not leave me any openings. I am sure of that".
The two have faced each other four times so far on the circuit, with two wins on each side. Rune’s particular game has often challenged Sinner, who è won in three sets on the last two occasions at the 2023 Finals and the quarterfinals of the Monte Carlo Masters last season.
"At this specific time the most important thing è is to recover with lots of sleep and specific leg treatments. I want to sleep for 10 hours, at that point I canò be ready", promised Rune ahead of the challenge with Sinner, which is scheduled to start at 4 a.m. Italian time on Monday, Jan. 20.
