The Sardinians created many chances in the first half but were inaccurate with Luperti and Piccoli, who wasted two sensational chances. At 42' surprisingly, the guests passed through with Pierotti, scoring on Morente’s cross fouled by an opposing defender.
At the start of the second half Krstovic wasted the double, then Cagliari went wild and in a few minutes overturned the challenge. At 60' Gaetano equalized on a heel assist from Deiola, and at 66' came the 2-1 by Luperto, who scored from the back on the development of a Marin corner.
The coup de grace for Giampaolo’s team came in 73'with the expulsion of Rebic for a bad foul on Mina. Zortea and Obert rounded out the result in the final game for the Sardinians, turning a hard-earned success into a goleada.

The balance of the first half was broken on 20' with Pohjanpalo’s penalty kick goal after Var signal for Keita’s foul on Yeboah. The hosts poured forward to find the equalizer but did not create any serious danger for Stankovic.
In the resumption, the Crusaders accentuated the pressure and laid siege to the Lagunari’s area: after a series of chances, Pecchia’s team found the long-awaited equalizer thanks to a penalty kick by Hernani awarded for a foul by Candela on Camara.
The match heated up with chances on both sides and at 78'Oristanio saw the 2-1 goal cancelled due to an irregular position. Venezia goalkeeper Stankovic rises to prominence in the end of the match and doesn't let anything go by anymore.
