Jannik Sinner stronger than ailments: he’s in the quarterfinals

Stricken by a malaise, è appeared to be on the verge of retiring

Jannik Sinner earned a pass to the quarterfinals at the Australian Open. The world No. 1 ruled Holger Rune (No. 13 in the men&#39s draw) in four sets: 6-3 3-6 6-3 6-2 the partials in favor of the Italian who kept his fans in suspense on more than one occasion due to an illness that affected him during several stages of the match.

In particular, Jannik Sinner è went into crisis between the second and third sets when, decidedly in pain, he asked for the physiotherapists'intervention (play interrupted for a full 11 minutes to allow the azure to be helped). Evident issues with the world No. 1 who è appeared really struggling with worrying tremors as he drank.

Fortunately, the Italian did not give up and è managed to take home the victory anyway, overcoming an obstacle that was by no means as easy as Holger Rune. The Dane, after losing the first set, è bounced back in a big way by taking home the second partial, also taking advantage of Jannik Sinner’s less than optimal condition.

Bravo to the world number 1 for finding the strength to put everything behind him and focus exclusively on the match. The blue è relied on his tennis to win the next two sets and close out the match. Fans however anxious to see if the ailment was only temporary. The day off will be crucial in trying to solve the problem and figure out how to prevent it from happening again.
