Volleyball Italian Cup: Verona-Perugia 3-2

The semifinals of the Italian Volleyball Cup began immediately with a twist. Reigning champion Perugia, in fact, è was surprisingly eliminated by Verona, which, after going down two sets to zero, è managed to come back and win the match at the tie-break, accessing the final for the first time in its history.

In the first set, the Umbrian team managed to create a small lead from the opening bars. In the middle phase, the Venetians manage to close the gap and the match continues point to point. In the final, forò, è again Perugia put the arrow and win the first partial with the score of 25-22.

In the second set, è Verona placed the first stretch on 13-16 and increased to 19-23. With their backs to the wall, the reigning Italian champions managed to stay in the set tooth and nail by sewing up the disadvantage and even placing an overtake on 28-26, thanks to a masterful diagonal by Ishikawaa that gave his team the second partial.

In the third set, it was again Stoytchev’s boys who immediately flew away in the score at 2-7. Unlike what happened in the previous set, however, the Venetians manage to manage the pace of the match and shorten the distance, winning the partial with a score of 25-14.

In the fourth set, the inertia è still on the side of Verona, which finds the decisive stretch in the middle phase of the match on 13-16. At that point, Perugia tried to react, but the opponents were perfect and even increased the lead, closing the games on 25-19.

In the tie-break, the Veneto team again manages to make the difference in the middle part of the match, taking a +3 lead. The title holders managed to recover to -1, but on 12-13, Stoytchev’s men found two consecutive points, which gave them their first historic final in the Italian Cup.
