Six Nations, Ireland confirms itself as the team to beat
Defending champions Ireland got off to the best possible start in the Six Nations 2025 by beating England 27-22 at the Aviva Stadium in Dublin.
It was the English who got off to a rocket start with a goal after 8 minutes by Murley converted by Smith. Ireland failed to equalize because’at 36’ Prendergast did not convert a Gibson-Park goal, so after a Smith spot kick as the first half expired, it was the visitors who led at halftime 10-5.
In the second half, the defending champions turned everything around: at 52’ goal by Aki once again not converted by Prendergast, who però at 56’ hit a spot kick that put the hosts ahead: 13-10. Then, at 65’ and 74’, there are two more goals, one by Beirne and one by Sheehan, both converted by Crawley: 27-10.
In the final, England got close again but it was not enough: at 76’ Cury’s goal not converted by Smith, at the second minute of extra time Freeman’s goal which Smith this time converted. But there’è no more time, Ireland wins.
