Matteo Berrettini comes close to a comeback in Rotterdam: Tallon Griekspoor goes through at tie-break

ATP Rotterdam: Tallon Griekspoor-Matteo Berrettini 6-3 6-7 7-6

It's over in the first round Matteo Berrettini's adventure at the Rotterdam ATP 500. The Roman tennis player, in fact, è was defeated in three sets by Dutchman Tallon Griekspoor with a score of 6-3 6-7 7-6, in almost two and a half hours of play.

In the first set è the Dutchman broke the balance first by finding the break in the eighth game. This stretch proved decisive for the 1996 class, who managed to maintain the lead until the final 6-3.

In the second set, both players manage to be relentless on serve. The first to falter, however, è Griekspoor, who è was forced to save a set point at 5-4 in favor of Berrettini. The danger having passed, the match proceeded briskly to the tie-break, which è a solo of the Roman tennis player who scrambled his opponent with a peremptory 7-2.

The third and decisive set è the one with more regrets for the Blue, who managed to lead on several occasions on 0-30, but without being able to sink the blow. The two tennis players manage to keep their respective turnovers until the tie-break, where è Berrettini the first to collapse. At 4-4, in fact, Griekspoor shifted gears and thanks to three consecutive points won the match with a score of 7-4.
