Federica Brignone super: è silver! Sofia Goggia fifth

Federica Brignone’s triumph in the super-G of the World Championships in Saalbach, Austria: the champion, only a tenth away from the gold medal won by Austria’s Stephanie Venier, ran a race of the highest level.

This is the fourth world medal for Federica Brignone, the third silver after those in giant slalom collected in Garmisch Partenkirchen 2011 and Courchevel 2023, with the French rainbow event seeing her as world combined champion.

Also excellent was the performance of Sofia Goggia, whose race è was compromised by a small smear in the final jump. Behind her, sixth place for convincing German Emma Aicher (+0''52), with Ester Ledecka seventh at 0''63 followed by Lara Gut Behrami (+0''70) and Elena Curtoni (+0''76) who è ninth.

Less positive day for Marta Bassino (16th) who thus surrenders the rainbow scepter after her 2023 triumph, closing at 1''63 from Venier, and for Laura Pirovano, 18th delayed by 1''72.

Tomorrow it is back on track for the third round of the downhill: the start at 9:30 a.m., Saturday then the medals will be up for grabs.
