Super evening for blue athletics in Liévin. È sensational Nadia Battocletti who signed the new Italian indoor record in the 3000 meters in 8:30.82 far surpassing, by almost eleven seconds, her 8:41.72 set always in France, in Val-de-Reuil on February 14, 2022.
The Trentino-born member of the Fiamme Azzurre becomes the eighth European of any era in the indoor 3000, just over four seconds behind the record of 8:26.41 set in 2017 by Britain’s Laura Muir. A chrono also significantly better than the Italian outdoor record, 8:35.65 by Roberta Brunet dated 1997. At the finish line è fourth, in a race run alone for a long time, and she managed to finish strong: partials of 2:50.81 in the first kilometer and 5:41.47 in the second. Ahead is the Ethiopian trio with Freweyni Hailu (8:19.98) followed by Gudaf Tsegay (8:25.12) and Birke Haylom (8:25.37), fifth the Dutch Maureen Koster (8:33.47).
