Timon Haugan mocks Meillard and Odermatt, good De Aliprandini

The men’s giant slalom at the World Ski Championships in Saalbach began with a surprise. In the first run, in fact, Norway’s Timon Haugan è was the fastest in 1:21.10, mocking the two highly favored Helvetians Loic Meillard and Marco Odermatt by 2 and 24 hundredths, respectively. At the foot of the podium was the other Scandinavian Alexander Steen.

Completing the top 5 is Raphael Haaser from Austria. Sixth place ex aequo for Switzerland's Thomas Tumler and Italy's Luca De Aliprandini, who pay a delay of 63 hundredths from the top. Completing the top 10: Marco Schwarz, Henrik Kristoffersen and Thibaut Favrot.

Three more Italians qualify for the second run, namely Alex Vinatzer (21st), Giovanni Franzoni (24th) and Filippo Della Vite (28th).

Ahead of the second heat, Luca De Aliprandini will beà called to a real feat to hope to grab the podium.
