Jannik Sinner’s ranking

Jannik Sinner will remain world No. 1 despite his suspension for three months, decided in agreement with Wada over the Clostebol case.

The sentence will cost dearly but not dearly to the South Tyrolean, who, strengthened by a good margin over his main opponents, will return to the court in Rome still as the world ranking leader, although Zverev and Alcaraz by then may have moved closer and not just by a little.

Sinner will lose; not being able to defend the 1,000 points from the Miami victory, the 400 from the Monte Carlo semifinal and the 200 from the Madrid quarterfinals.

Zverev, second in the rankings and defeated in Australia, could do better (but also worse) in Miami where he will be back from the 2024 semifinals but it will not be enough to make the breakthrough before the Internazionali d'Italia. Same for Alcaraz, who starts even moreù behind.
