Tommaso Giacomel silver at biathlon world championships: “Magnificent feeling”

Tommaso Giacomel enjoys silver at World Biathlon Championships
A screaming Tommaso Giacomel won the silver medal in the 20km individual event of the biathlon World Championships underway in Lenzerheide. The 24-year-old from Trentino of the Fiamme Gialle brought Italy back to the podium of the specialty 32 years after Andreas Zingerle’s success in Borovec (Bulgaria).
“È a magnificent feeling – said Giacomel warmly -, so far it had been a good World Championship, although the medal had not yet come, now with this silver è fantastic. I knew I was ahead of Perrot at the last range and also had a chance to win, I had it clear in my head, but a mistake can happen. I still shot 95 percent and got a medal at the World Championships-I am overjoyed".
“The snow held up well, except in a couple of places on the course. Today I was quite well, I had a good feeling with the race from the start, in the last lap knowing that the ranking was defined, I saved some energy, since there are still three races – added the blue -. After the chase I was able to rest and recover a lot, even energy. I am satisfied with how I handled this, after the tiredness of Sunday. I knew I was coming to this World Championships with a chance to do well in every race. In sports no one gives you anything, we have trained hard and well and I hope that my teammates will also soon get to the same level as me and reap what they deserve".
" In the single mixed I have already won two medals at the Worlds although it is not è a format that exalts me: let’s see what happens tomorrow. In the meantime, I am really grateful to have so many fans here, so many friends and my family members: they are all very passionate and believe a lot in me. It’ special to have people like thisì by my side" concluded Giacomel.
