Everything è set for the Nordic World Ski Championships in Trondheim, which kicks off Wednesday, Feb. 26 with the men’s and women’s 7.5-kilometer classic technique qualifiers. The Italian cross-country, ski jumping and Nordic combined teams are ready to play their cards to figure at their best in the rainbow event, which returns to the Norwegian city 28 years after the 1997 edition, which brought Italy four silver medals from Stefania Belmondo and bronze in the men’s relay composed of Giorgio Di Centa, Silvio Fauner, Pietro Piller Cottrer and Fulvio Valbusa.

The three Nordic programs are divided as follows. Cross-country will award the first medals on Feb. 27 with the free-technique sprints, then move on to the men’s and women’s skiathlons on March 1 and 2, respectively. March 4 will see the two 10-kilometer races in classic technique, while on March 5 it will be the turn of the Team Sprints, also in classic technique. March 6 and 7 will be the days of the relays, again first with men and then with women, concluding on March 8 and 9 with the two 50 km skating.

As for jumping, the first medals will come on Feb. 28 from Normal Hill HS 102 in the women’s field, while on March 1, again the women will compete in the team event. On March 2, it will be the men’s turn from the same trampoline. It then goes to March 5, the day of the team competition from the HS138 large springboard; on March 6, however, it will be the men who will compete in the team competition, again from the HS138. The last two days, March 7 and 8, will see the women from the big trampoline and then the men, from the same trampoline, in the closing competition.

The Nordic combined will be engaged on Feb. 27 in the women’s mass start, while on the 28th there will be the team competition from the small springboard. On March 1, the men will make their debut in the men’s individual compact, followed in the same format by the women on March 2. On March 6, it will be the turn of the second team competition, from the large springboard, while on March 8 the men will close the program with the gundersen from the large springboard.

The most recent World Championships was held in Planica in 2023, which saw Italy win the silver medal in the Team Sprint free technique, thanks to Federico Pellegrino and Francesco De Fabiani.
