Right behind Barcelona and Real Madrid, first in the standings with 54 points after 25 games, are Atletico Madrid at 53 and Athletic Bilbao at 48: precisely the third and fourth forces of La Liga will face each other on Saturday night, in a traditionally no-holds-barred match that will define in no small part the chances of getting on the podium, if not of playing for the title with the two traditional big names of Spanish soccer.
The Colchoneros arrive from the pyrotechnic 4-4 draw at home to Barcelona in the King’s Cup, while in the league they regained with Valencia (3-0) the brilliance that had been questioned not so much after the 1-1 draw against Real Madrid as after the draw, with the same score, against Celta Vigo. Cholo Simeone will not be able to count on Azpilicueta and Koke, both injured: no doubts, however, in attack, with Griezmann and JulianAlvarez confirmed and, on the flanks, Giuliano Simeone on the right and Lino on the left.
On the other side, Ernesto Valverde will have to do without Alvaro Djalò and Oihan Sancet, deploying however his 4-2-3-1 with Sannadi in attack, supported by Iñaki and Nico Williams, as well as former Torino player Berenguer. The Basque club coach will also rely on the push on the right of Gorosabel and on the left of Berchiche.
