È Nico Hidalgo died: he was only 32 years old

The soccer world mourns Nico Hidalgo, who died of lung cancer: the former midfielder had left soccer in 2022 after being diagnosed with the disease. This is the message from Granada, a club with which Hidalgo collected 95 appearances: "Nico Hidalgo left us on March 1° 2025 at the age of 32. Behind him there's an undeniable example of fight and sacrifice, as he already showed in Granada, a reality he defended between 2012 and 2016 while making his debut with the first team".

"Born in Motril, he could feel the warmth of Granada fans at the Granada City Trophy 2022. That afternoon there'è was an emotional moment when he, along with Pepe Macanas, è came down on the Nuevo Los Camenes pitch and received a more than deserved ovation from his fans, who wanted to support him from the first moment in a long and unfortunate fight against illness". 

"With Nico's farewell goes not only an excellent footballer, but also a good person. But the affection of teammates, coaches, workers, managers and fans will always be there. Rest in peace, Nico Hidalgo Garcia" concludes the note.

Raised right in Granada, Hidalgo in 2014 è was bought by Juventus, which forò left him in Spain on loan. In 2016 he è moved to Cádiz, then played for Racing and Extremadura before retiring.
