Indian Wells: Nick Kyrgios exits amid tears

"If I can’t finish games è all useless"
There was much anticipation at the Indian Wells tournament to see Nick Kyrgios at work. The Australian, who is very active on social media (especially vis-à-vis Jannik Sinner, his "regular thought), was expected to prove he can still play at a high level in his match against Botic van de Zandschulp.
Unfortunately for the Australian, the match did not è go as planned. After losing the first set on tie-break (9-7), Nick Kyrgios è went down 3-0 in the second set. At that point, the decision was made to raise the white flag and retire due to severe pain in his right wrist. In tears, the Australian è appeared devastated by yet another stop due to physical problems.
"After the Australian Open all I did was è train in the best way I could and try to prepare as best I could for this tournament. I would have liked to be able to finish this match even if I had lost. I had my chances, but if I can’t even finish the match, that becomes a big worry for me", his words after the match.
Nick Kyrgios has not won a tournament since Tokyo 2022 and continues to have major physical problems that are preventing him from trying to return to playing tennis as he would like. He therefore skips his match, in the second round, against Novak Djokovic, who will instead take on Botic van de Zandschulp.
