Bologna’s blow in Verona: Italian sees Champions zone

Bologna won 2-1 in Verona and scored its third consecutive league victory: Italiano’s team flies to 50 points and moves just two lengths away from the Champions League zone, while the Gialloblu have to cash in their fourth defeat in their last five games and remain in 15th place in the standings.

First half. Italiano’s Bologna held the ball of the game but could not break through the defensive web set up by Zanetti. Ditto on the’other front. After 20 minutes, no noteworthy actions are reported. Goalkeepers inoperative even when the 25’ runs. A minute later it is Montipò who agitates the Gialloblù fans with a’reckless exit in the middle of the area, good for Hellas that Bradaric is the most’swift to sweep it away. Bologna: missing the finishing touch. On the other front, Verona grows: Bradacic (29’) runs at the back towards Skorupski, contact with Ferguson, the referee says no, doubt remains. Scaligeri reinvigorated: Sarr to the line, obstructed, ball on the’outside of the net. On 36’ first corner of the match, Bologna beats it with Orsolini, cut ball, danger under the goal, again foils the Verona defense. On the other, corner also for Hellas after Skorupski’s save on Bradaric: Valentini’s breakaway, ball over the crossbar.

On the stroke of 40’, great vertical action by Bologna: lunge by Calabria, perfect touch for Odgaard, equally the diagonal, Verona-Bologna 0-1 to the delight of 3243 Emilian fans. Bologna insatiable: the good ball has it Orsolini, great recovery of Coppola, the action fades. One minute of recovery and double whistle: Verona-Bologna 0-1.

Resumed, Bologna tries several times the doubling and comes close with Odgaard, Orsolini and  Aebischer. At 62' the hosts equalized with Tengstedt but the goal è rightly annulled for offside. However, the Felsinians remained more dangerous, and after a sharp chance by Cambiaghi at 69' they even went ahead by a man thanks to Valentini's expulsion for double admonition.

In 10 against 11, Verona paradoxically has the best chance with Tengstedt, who wastes in front of Montipò, but then suffers the doubling of the guests: Cambiaghi served by Dominguez scores the 2-0 also thanks to the indecision of Hellas goalkeeper Montipò at 78'. The hosts immediately shortened the gap two minutes later with Mosquera, and then prepared the final assault on Skorupski&#39s goal, but Lazovic&#39s only chance at 91' was not enough for Verona. Dallinga gobbled up his tic-tac-toe just before the triple whistle: little bad for Bologna, which is back to dreaming of Champions League qualification.
