Indian Wells, Matteo Berrettini redeems himself in doubles: he’s in the round of 16 with Lorenzo Sonego

Indian Wells: Berrettini/Sonego-Metkic/Venus 6-4 6-3
After being eliminated in the third round in the singles draw at the hands of Stefanos Tsitsipas, Matteo Berrettini immediately reared his head again in Indian Wells in the doubles paired with Lorenzo Sonego. The two blues, in fact, defeated in the opener the duo consisting of Nikola Mektic and Michael Venus with a score of 6-4 6-3.
The match started in the best way for the two Italian players, who found the break already in the third game. The number five pair of the tournament, for its part, tries to recover, but the Roman and Piedmontese manage to keep the lead until the final 6-4, thanks mainly to the excellent percentages in the first serve.
The second set begins in a more balanced manner, but in the seventh game it is again Berrettini and Sonego who put the arrow thanks to a forehand first and a backhand response then that gives them the break. Metkic and Venus, at that point, lose lucidityà also from the mental point of view and the two Italians take advantage of it to place two more consecutive games and close the games on 6-3.
In the round of 16, the Italian duo will face the American pair formed by Ryan Seggerman and Patrick Trhac.
