Italy’s shooting team applauds Maldini, Mona and Mastrovalerio

Concluded the European Championships in Croatia with a fine silver for the Azzurri
"Finally we managed to hit the team podium again after a while, for us it represents a very good result": with these words Roberto Di Donna, Olympic champion in the pistol and today technical commissioner of the National Team, commented on what happened at the Senior European Championships at 10 meters that were staged in Osijek, Croatia.
Italy è in fact managed to get an excellent second place, just one point behind the gold (won by the Czech Republic) in the team pistol, thanks to Federico Nilo Maldini, Paolo Monna and Matteo Mastrovalerio. Maldini also achieved a fourth place in the individual, a competition won by Juraj Tuzinski of Slovakia.
"Maldini had a very high level elimination phase with perfect management of difficult moments,” Di Donna explained. “In the final è he was conditioned by an 8 at a less than ideal moment but a fourth place at the European Championships è a thick result. Mona had a few more difficulties; but he is working with a’new weapon and è in a process of learning new mechanisms".
The Italian technical commissioner then addressed his compliments to Mastrovalerio, the youngest of the three, who in Croatia was at his first participation in a major event among seniors: "He is making a path of growth, he is not yet at the level of the best but he brought home a good result by playing a good qualifying final" commented the coach.
