Rafael Nadal extols Jannik Sinner

A guest on the podcast 'Served with Andy Roddick', Rafael Nadal addressed numerous issues with the former U.S. colleague including one related to Jannik Sinner and his ability to handle the trial he had to endure for the Clostebol case.

"Jannik è a good guy. He è not a show-off, è focused on what he does. Last year Sinner faced a very tough trial. I think it was really amazing how he managed to keep his focus fixed on tennis and what he was doing" said the Spanish champion.

Also inevitable was a reflection on the historic rivalry with Roger Federer: "Against Federer it was a chess match, there were no secrets, everyone knew what the strategy was. He was trying to do one thing, I another. I was always trying to destroy his backhand; if I thought I had to play the longline, it was for two reasons: either because I had to look for the winner, or because I had to move it away from there to create more space. He was trying to be moreù aggressive, he was avoiding it: every time he hit a forehand, I took a step back, becauseé for me, his forehand è the best forehand I ever faced".

"In 2017, for me, Roger had at times the best level of his career. Whyé? You felt you were in his hands. On hard, on clay maybe it was a little bit different (laughs). È true, he didn't play much on clay that year. He played super aggressively, his serve was very difficult to read … he was very accurate, but Roger’s serve was very difficult to read because it was unpredictable, he could change the position of the ball at the last moment" concluded Nadal.
