Anna Kalinskaya is at a crossroads.

Anna Kalinskaya looking for a change of pace
For Anna Kalinskaya, the first part of this 2025 is certainly not one to remember: out of five tournaments played, only in Singapore did she clear the first hurdle, climbing all the way to the semifinals in which, however, she had to surrender to an injury. Ko due to physical problems also in the very first tournament of the season in Adelaide (so much so that she had to skip the Australian Open), the Russian tennis player did not è fare better thereafter, stopping in the first round also in Doha, Dubai and Indian Wells.
In the tournament being played in California, Kalinskaya surprisingly gave way to one of the wild cards, American Alycia Parks. All these results have weighed heavily on the ranking, where the Muscovite, who also reached 11th position, currently occupies the number 33 box and sees other opponents such as Magda Linette, Katie Boulter and Elina Evanesyan approaching.
Slightly better so far in doubles, where Kalinskaya è reached the finals in Brisbane along with Priscilla Hon (losing the final act of the tournament to the duo consisting of Mirra Andreeva and Diana Shnaider) and reached the quarters in Indian Wells paired with Caty McNally, before elimination at the hands of Tereza Mihailikova and Olivia Nicholls.
On the eve of the season dedicated to clay court, Anna Kalinskaya must therefore pick up the pace in singles in order not to lose further positions in the rankings, but she may also decide to focus further on doubles, given the undeniable qualities she has shown in her career (3 tournaments won in the WTA circuit, as many as 8 in the ITF circuit). All that remains is to wait the next few weeks to see which path she decidesà to take.
