Another great Italy: Sofia Goggia comes close to victory, Federica Brignone stretches in the rankings
Still great Italy in the women’s World Alpine Ski Championships. Sofia Goggia and Federica Brignone finished second and third, respectively, in the Super-G in La Thuile, Valle d'Aosta. The victory è went to German Emma Aicher, who came in her second career success.
Aicher beat Sofia Goggia, who took podium number 61 of her career, by just 6 hundredths, and Federica Brignone by 39 hundredths. The skier from Valle d’Aosta, who reached podium number 81 and is getting closer and closer to Alberto Tomba’s record, stretched again in the overall ranking over Switzerland’s Lara Gut-Behrami,who finished fourth.
Now Federica Brignone has a margin of 332 points over her rival when there are four useful races left for the two contenders before the absolute World Cup is awarded.
An excellent sixth place for Marta Bassino, who is closing a complicated season on the rise, twelfth Elena Curtoni and seventeenth Laura Pirovano.
