Tirreno-Adriatico: Juan Ayuso’s double blow, Filippo Ganna gives up jersey

Tappa and jersey for Juan Ayuso at Tirreno-Adriatico
It's Juan Ayuso the great protagonist of the sixth and penultimate stage of the Tirreno-Adriatico 2025: the Spaniard of UAE Team Emirates completed the 163-kilometer route from Cartoceto to Frontignano reaching the finish line alone, arms raised, in 4h14'02". Nothing for his rivals to do: Thomas Pidcock (Q36.5) è second at 13", Jai Hindley (Red Bull-Bora-Hansgrohe) completes the podium with the same time as the Briton.
For Ayuso the blow è double, sinceé in addition to the stage success comes also the blue jersey: Filippo Ganna, in fact, è forced to surrender the symbol of primacy and è now third in the general classification at 38" from Ayuso. In second position, ahead of the Verbanese of Ineos Grenadiers, there'è Antonio Tiberi (Bahrain Victorious), at 37" from the top.
"Everything worked really well today,” Juan Ayuso said at the end of the stage. “The team did a great job. We knew we had to make the race hard. There was a lot of wind and being on the wheel saved a lot of energy, when I attacked I knew I had to maintain my pace all the way to the top. I suffered a little bit in the last kilometer, but I am really happy to have succeeded".
This year's edition of the race that ideally unites the two seas will conclude on Sunday, March 16, with the 147-kilometer stage that will take the peloton from Porto Potenza Picena to San Benedetto del Tronto. Ayuso is chasing another important success in this 2025, after those at the Drome Classic and the Trofeo Laigueglia.
