Miami Open, men’s draw: not easy challenges on the horizon for Musetti, Berrettini and other Italians

Men’s Miami Open men’s draw
Following Jack Draper’s success in Indian Wells, the ATP circuit moves from coast to coast in the United States for the second Masters 1000 of the season, the Miami Open. On Monday, the draws were made, with as many as eight Italians in the men’s draw: two of them, Lorenzo Musetti and Matteo Berrettini, are already in the second round being among the 32 seeded.
For both, however, a not easy path looms: Musetti will face the winner of the first-round match between Brazilian Seyboth Wild and Frenchman Halys, and in the next round he could cross arms with Canadian Felix Auger-Aliassime; Berrettini, on the other hand, will have to deal with whoever wins in the first round in the Japanese derby between Nishioka and Nishikori, and then meet with good odds, if he wins, Russian Andrey Rublev.
On the other hand, six Italians will start from the first round: Matteo Arnaldi will face Chinese Wu, Lorenzo Sonego against Argentine Navone, Flavio Cobolli against Chilean Jarry, Luciano Darderi against Spanish Martinez, while Mattia Bellucci and the very young Federico Cinà (class of 2007) await an opponent from the qualifiers.
The passage of the first round could put the representatives of the Bel Paese in front of other very dangerous challenges: Tomas Machac è in fact on Arnaldi’s way, Taylor Fritz on Sonego’s, Denis Shapovalov on Cobolli’s, Hubert Hurkacz on Darderi’s, Stefanos Tsitsipas on Bellucci’s and Grigor Dimitrov on Cinà.
