Antonio Candreva, emotional farewell to soccer played

A little more than 20 years after his senior debut, on September 17, 2004 in Ternana-Empoli 1-1, Antonio Candreva has officially said goodbye to soccer played, and he did it with a video posted on his Instagram channel shot at the "Giuseppe Meazza" stadium in Milan, where he è been starring with the Inter shirt between 2016 and 2020.
"Dear soccer, today è one of the important days of my life: è the time has come to say goodbye to you here, in San Siro, in the Scala of soccer, where I played my last match – said Candreva, in the first person, accompanied on the walk to the 'Meazza' by his family -. Thirty years ago è my soccer began with you amid joys and sorrows, sacrifices and victories, and certainly many emotions".
" I have lived my dream, my passion: I do not consider this a farewell, but only a new starting point. Thank you soccer, see you soon" concluded the now former lateral, who played his last match last May 25, wearing the Salernitana jersey, in the 3-3 draw against AC Milan that ended the 2024-2025 season.
Born in Rome to a family of Calabrian origins, Candreva è grew up in the youth teams of Lodigiani, Monterotondo and Ternana: with the rossoverdi he made his pro debut, staying in Umbria until 2007. He then wore the uniforms of Udinese, Livorno, Juventus, Parma, Cesena, Lazio (with which he won the Coppa Italia in 2013), Inter, Sampdoria and Salernitana, not forgetting his path in the Azzurri jersey, which led him to wear the Italy jersey 54 times between 2009 and 2018.
