Alexandra Eala’s historic feat in Miami: beats Iga Swiatek and makes the semifinals

Alexandra Eala’s magical moment at the Miami Masters 1000 continues. The 19-year-old Filipina from the qualifiers, in fact, after Jelena Ostapenko and Madison Keys, took another illustrious scalp, namely that of world number two Iga Swiatek, who surrendered in two sets with a score of 6-2 7-5.
The first set featured a veritable break fair (6 out of 8 total games). What made the difference, however, was the young Filipina, who, managed to hold serve on two occasions, thus succeeding in winning the partial set 6-2.

The second set opened with two consecutive games in favor of Eala. Swiatek, with her back against the wall, did not give up and found a counter-partial four games to zero. At that point, however, comes a real blackout for the Pole, who loses five of the next six games, allowing the young Filipina to close the score at 7-5 and continue her unbeaten streak.
In the semifinals, Alexandra Eala will face the winner of the match between America’s Jessica Pegula and Britain’s Emma Raducanu. On the other side of the scoreboard, however, Jasmine Paolini and world number one Aryna Sabalenka will face each other.
