Bologna president Joey Saputo gave a lengthy interview to ‘Omni Television’ a Canadian broadcaster, in which he also returned to Thiago Motta’s farewell and his very recent exoneration from Juventus.

“The change of coach? We did not change him, I would like to emphasize that: he was the one who decided to leave –highlighted the number one of the Rossoblù -. We started from a fairly strong base but we worked to create what we created. He is the one who went and we were lucky to have found a coach who wanted to continue working with us for the team we have now”.

“Was I sorry that Motta left? I was sorry the way it was done. I did not like the way he and the club that took him, because I am a very open guy: I am passionate, people see that, I give passion to our people who work and I was disappointed by what was done by Juve and Thiago. This is life and we move on but the important thing is that we found a coach who has the values we wanted”.

“Am I surprised by the exoneration from Juve? I’m not in Juve so I don’t know what happened in the locker room: I feel sorry for him because I know he works very hard and he cares, but when you take responsibility for a team like Juve that has spent so much money to win the championship and not just be in fourth place or the Champions fight. I feel sorry for him, even as he left me…” Saputo concluded.
