During an interview with the microphones of the German newspaper “formel1.de”, Red Bull adviser Helmut Marko, among other topics, returned to talk about the recent decision by the Milton Keynes-based stable to promote Yuki Tsunoda to Max Verstappen’s teammate, with Liam Lawson demoted to Racing Bulls alongside rookie Isack Hadjar.

“Yuki is a fast driver, we know that, but he has had his ups and downs. That is why we thought Lawson was the strongest candidate, even in perspective. Tsunoda, however, has undergone a rapid transformation, changing his approach and proving that he is the best option for us in this situation. Liam”s was a downward spiral that we needed to stop right away” began the Red Bull advisor.

“We had to act fast, and Yuki performed well. The technical feedback, on which he had often been accused of lacking, was also interesting. Tsunoda is in his fifth year, and experience in such difficult conditions is a huge factor. He himself has repeatedly stressed that he considers himself the’right man for Red Bull” added the Graz native.

“Lawson’s demotion was inevitable, but now there will be no second thoughts and Yuki will finish the season behind the wheel of Red Bull” concluded Helmut Marko.
