Jakub Mensik follows in the footsteps of Jannik Sinner and Carlos Alcaraz

Jakub Mensik continues to fly at the Miami Open where he hit his first semifinal in a Masters 1000. “It’s definitely the best result I’ve had in my whole career so far – he remarked at the press conference -, so I’m very happy but with the mindset that I have to keep going. Since the first round I’m trying to focus on this idea, to stay focused for two weeks of a Masters 1000 which is always very tough. So at the moment I would say that the work is not finished yet”.
“Obviously I never thought that my career would start with this force and at this speed, but before every season I always sit down to reflect and set my goals– added the 19-year-old Czech -. Fortunately I have an incredible team with me that accompanies me and helps me every day, everyone is doing a spectacular job, so I would say that this is the reason for everything, the real key to this success”.
Mensik intends to follow in the footsteps of Jannik Sinner and Carlos Alcaraz: “Right now Jannik and Carlos are the best in the world, so it is normal to hear a lot about them, they have already achieved great things in tennis. Now more new guys are coming on the circuit, for me 2024 was my first year as a pro, so I didn’t get much attention, although Joao Fonseca is getting a lot of attention in 2025.
“Even here in Miami I feel like I am in South America, I haven’t heard anyone speak English in the city yet, everyone speaks Spanish. It is good to see the’arrival of new names, we are here to follow in the footsteps of Jannik and Carlos, eventually the focus will be on who will be the best player in the world” Mensik concluded.
The focus will be on who will be the best player in the world.
