First joy of the season for Pecco Bagnaia: the Ducati centaur triumphs in the Grand Prix of the Americas, winning the Austin race ahead of Alex Marquez and Fabio Di Giannantonio. Shockingly down on the big favorite of the eve, Marc Marquez, who also loses the World Championship lead to his brother Alex. It’ the race of redemption for Bagnaia, while for number 93 came the first major disappointment after a dominant start to the championship.

Delayed start and race shortened by one lap after all riders returned to the pit lane to get on the bikes with slick tires. At the start very well Pecco Bagnaia, who immediately gets behind the Marquez brothers, in first and second place. As expected, Marc stretches immediately, while Bagnaia manages to pass Alex on lap four and gets on the trail of the’eight-time world champion.

The number 93 seems relentless on the Austin track and stretches his lead over Pecco to over 2 seconds, but perhaps due to overconfidence he slips on the ground on lap nine. The Catalan tries to restart but after a few laps is forced to retire permanently.

Bagnaia with great skill administers and consolidates his lead over Alex Marquez, securing a quiet and surprising victory on a track where all the predictions were against him. Also on the podium with him was VR46 rider Fabio Di Giannantonio, with teammate Franco Morbidelli in fourth place.
