Elisabetta Cocciaretto lasts a set with Caroline Dolehide in Charleston

It’s already ended Elisabetta Cocciaretto’s adventure at the Charleston WTA 500. The Italian tennis player, in fact, was defeated by the American Caroline Dolehide with the score of 6-4 6-1, after one hour and twenty minutes of play.
The first set began under the banner of a break, as Cocciaretto twice broke Dolehide, who managed to break back only on one occasion. First to find rhythm at the serve is the Italian, who manages to take a 4-2 lead. At that point, however, the Ancona native dropped out of the match completely and the American took advantage of it to post four consecutive games, thus winning the partial 6-4.
Cocciaretto’s black-out continued in the second set, as Dolehide won the first three games. The Italian, for her part, tried a minimal reaction and after managing to hold serve in the fourth game, she created herself a counter-break opportunity in the fifth, but failed to exploit it. At that point, the rival number 73 in the world again rises to the top and with another three-games-to-zero split, closes the score at 6-1.
In the next round, Caroline Dolehide is expected to play an American derby against Madison Keys.
