Mensik wins Miami tournament and spoils Djokovic’s plans

A new tennis star has been born in Miami. Mensik, 19, won the Miami Masters 1000 tournament. The Czech won, in the final, over veteran Djokovic, who was beaten in two sets (7-6, 7-6).
Mensik started the tournament great, immediately taking a 3-0 lead in the first set. Great reaction of the Serb who drags the partial to the tie-break where the young Czech is practically perfect: 7-4 and 1-0 Mensik. In the second set there’s more balance. Natural the second tie-break of the match. Once again, Djokovic struggles to keep up with the Czech’s pace and eventually raises the white flag: 7-4 and final won by Mensik.
Mensik’s masterpiece as he becomes the first tennis player from the Czech Republic to win a Masters 1000 since Berdych (2005). Thanks to this stunning victory, the 19-year-old Czech also rises to 24th in the ATP rankings and certifies that he has all the makings of one of the best tennis players in the world.
Bitter Djokovic who, once again, fails to make an appointment with title number 100 of his incredible career. It remains, however, the excellent path made in Miami where, at times, we saw again the Djokovic of some time ago. However, against the many aces of the new generation, something more is needed to bring home the victory. Now, among the new aces, there’s also Mensik.
