Inter, the regret of Massimiliano Farris

These are the words of Inter’s assistant coach Massimiliano Farrism sitting on the Nerazzurri bench in place of the disqualified Simone Inzaghi, after the won thrown away against Parma, a game that ended in a 2-2 draw from a 2-0 lead for the Italian champions.
“We will have to analyze the match with the boys because in the first half we were in control, but in the two situations where we loosened our grip we risked conceding goals. We should not have conceded it. Then the team did what it had to do by creating chances. It must be said that we were fresh from a derby where we spent energy.”
“Clearly we are disappointed since we were 2-0 up at halftime, but we found neither mental nor physical energy to contain Parma in the second half. Nonetheless, we allowed only one restart to such a dangerous team and once we made the omelet, we threw ourselves back forward in search of the goal.”
“The matches we played in the second half were very good.
“The games played are in the legs of the boys. We prepare match by match both us coaches and staff. Lautaro was returning from an injury and could not have the 90 minutes, some other players had dross from the derby. We try not to say to manage but to safeguard the players because we are still playing a lot, so it is important to avoid injuries.”
“We seemed to be in absolute control, it wasn’t the changes, but just the spark that Parma had that we shouldn’t have conceded. At this point in the season it is not easy for anyone to maintain continuity for 90 minutes. In the past we conceded early in the second half, for example with Napoli, Torino and risked with Udinese. Today the approach was right, only we erred in the episodes. We had to let Parma’s outburst pass and dribble better.”
“We remain masters of our future, the teams behind will follow us well, we will put our heads on the Champions League and then focus on the rest. The great merit of this team is to focus match by match by extricating ourselves from situations. We will file away this draw with a bit of regret and dive straight into Bayern Munich. Sticks? A little ice time to recover, nothing to worry about.”
