Red Bull, Max Verstappen dotes the i’s and crosses the t’s.

After the resounding record lap that allowed him to take a pole from the most unexpected in the Japanese Grand Prix, Max Verstappen explains how he managed to beat, at least in Saturday’s decisive session, the two McLarens, which had to bow to the 1:26.983 set by the four-time world champion.
“We did everything possible to have the best balance possible – explained Verstappen on the sidelines of qualifying -, it was not easy we managed to improve step by step in the three sessions. On the last fast lap I gave it my all, going full throttle on a track like this is fantastic, Suzuka is a special track.
The Dutch champion, however, is keen to set the record straight ahead of Sunday“s race: “We haven’t done anything yet, there’s tomorrow’s race that will be a challenge. The pole gives a minimal advantage but Sunday is another thing. We will do our best, we will also see the weather: rain will be an important variable”.
In the Red Bull house, the mood is diametrically opposed in the pits of the two drivers: in fact, if Verstappen and his dedicated team are over the moon about pole, the same cannot be said of Yuki Tsunoda, who will begin his first race in Red Bull in fifteenth place, even behind the driver whose place he has taken, Liam Lawson, who has meanwhile switched to Racing Bulls as part of a “relegation” that has caused much discussion in recent days.
