In Barcelona, a very important meeting was staged by the 13 partners of the’Euroleague. Main topic: the new project NBA Europe that could, soon, disrupt the basketball world. A project that aims to create a new league, definitely competitive to’Euroleague.

According to reports from Basketnews.com, during the meeting, they began to understand the position of the major clubs currently involved in the’Euroleague regarding the possible new league that the NBA and Fiba are developing. Panathinaikos and Fenerbahce reportedly pledged allegiance to the’current format, still considered the top as far as European basketball is concerned.

Barcelona and Real Madrid, on the other hand, would not budge, partly because their 10-year contract with Euroleague expires in 2026. As known, the two clubs are considered very valuable by NBA commissioner Adam Silver for the new NBA Europe project.

L’Olimpia, like Asvel, would instead let it be known that it needs time to better understand the situation and make the best decision for its future. Milan is a very interesting basketball square, and the Silver-Zagklis duo (the latter the secretary general of Fiba) aims to have it in the new project. News is expected in the coming weeks. Undoubtedly, the NBA Europe issue is the main theme of the present and the future.
