Jorge Martin, new merciless bulletin: "Six fractured ribs"

E’ arrived late Sunday evening the official bulletin regarding the computed tomography to which was subjected Jorge Martin, Aprilia rider, who slipped during the Grand Prix of Qatar and inadvertently hit by Fabio Di Giannantonio, who was following him very close on the track. The world champion got a pneumothorax, with six fractured ribs.
“Jorge Martin underwent a CT scan that showed an increase in the pneumothorax, which will necessitate a suction drainage: the rider will remain under observation at the hospital until the trauma is resolved. The final examination also showed the presence of six fractures of the posterior rib arches on the right side”. Aprilia also recalled that Martin was never in life-threatening danger, despite the severity of the accident.
It is difficult, now, to make predictions about the return to the track of the unfortunate 27-year-old rider, who in fact was never able to begin the defense of the title he won last year because of two injuries in the month prior to the’start of the season, the first in testing in Malaysia and the second during a training session, and the one just suffered in Qatar.
Born in Madrid on January 29, 1998, Jorge Martin has been a regular presence in MotoGP since the 2016 season, when he made his debut in Moto3. In 2018, also in the same class, he won his first career World Championship, before moving to Moto2 in 2019 and MotoGp in 2021. Second overall in 2023 behind Pecco Bagnaia, he took revenge the following year, bringing the premier class title back to Spain for the first time since 2020, when Joan Mir won it.
