Jorge Martin, last day of ordeal: he’s ready to go home

Jorge Martin is finally about to put behind him the personal ordeal that began two weeks ago in Lusail. The 2025 Qatar Grand Prix was particularly unlucky for the world champion, who suffered a dangerous and painful pneumothorax and numerous rib fractures (almost eleven) from the crash on the track and the successive collision with Fabio Di Giannantonio’s bike. However, his return home is finally imminent.

Since the Lusail accident, Martin has always remained at the Doha hospital to keep an eye on his lung in particular. Just as the Spanish Grand Prix weekend is coming up in Jerez, the time is finally ripe for him to leave Qatar and return to Spain. It will take place on Saturday, 26, with arrival in Madrid and subsequent examinations including a CT scan.

Even the transfer will have its own element of complication, however, as Martin will not be able to travel by an ordinary scheduled flight. Too risky because of pressure changes that could create further lung damage for him: for this reason, a “medical flight” is planned for him, with all the necessary assistance to avoid further trouble.
