Jorge Martin is back in Spain: MotoGp doctor takes stock of his condition

After nearly two weeks of hospitalization in Doha due to the bad accident he had during the Qatar Gp last April 13, Jorge Martin was finally dmesso and transferred to Spain to continue the path of recovery.
On arrival in Madrid, the reigning champion underwent further medical examinations to determine the’actual extent of his injuries and establish with more certainty the recovery program.
Intervening at the microphones of “Sky Sport MotoGp” on the sidelines of the warm-up of the Jerez de la Frontera Gp, MotoGp medical director Angel Charte wanted to shed light on the condition of the centaur of the Aprilia.
“We have given Jorge Martin a CT scan at the Ruber Quiròn Hospital in Madrid and the news is definitely good and very encouraging. Now his lung is in perfect condition. The pleura, or the mebrane that surrounds the lung, is completely closed” began the medical director.
“Of the theoretical 11 fractures he had, only three remain. These are the seventh, eighth and eleventh ribs, which already have the beginnings of bone callus. Therefore, in my opinion, the development has been very positive. Now we will wait for the necessary time and continue to monitor in Madrid the’evolution of these fractures” added Angel Charte.
Despite the progress made, Jorge Martin’s return would still be a long way off, as in all likelihood the Spanish centaur would have to stay away from the track until at least the summer break, thus missing at least the next eight GPs of the season.
