In an interview with Corriere dello Sport Corrado Barazzutti named who he thinks can oust Jannik Sinner from the throne of world No. 1, and it is the name of another Italian: Lorenzo Musetti, who on Monday will enter the top 10 of the world rankings for the first time in his career. Here are the words of the former Davis Cup non-player captain and winner of the silver salad bowl in 1976 along with Adriano Panatta, Paolo Bertolucci, and Tonino Zugarelli.

“Then you need daily work. The results, those, come accordingly. Lorenzo is proving his worth. Compared to a year ago, he plays a more mature tennis, more concrete and also ‘dirtier,’ as he himself said. He has learned to better manage his talent: giving up the beautiful game at times but being more cynical. Now he really knows how to drive his machine. And on clay, he is already among the strongest in the world”.

“I think he will be in the perfect condition to assert himself. This is what I have been advocating over the past few months. Jannik wasn&#8217t injured, and indeed, players of his level don&#8217t play as many tournaments as others: they often take breaks of a few weeks. Of course, it is a longer stop, but he was able to prepare for this comeback. When you are away from the competitive atmosphere some people have a hard time recovering, while others find rhythm without problems”.
