Volleyball, Scudetto final: Fabio Soli expects "even more extreme scenarios"
After the 3-0 win in game-1, at home, in their own favor, Itas Trentino came back to Earth in game-2 of the Superleague volleyball championship final, again surrendering 3-0 to Lube Civitanova on Marches soil. On Sunday afternoon (3:20 p.m.), the game will be played again at the IlT Quotidiano Arena in Trento.Itas coach Fabio Soli is not thinking about the court factor and expects something very different from the previous game in front of a friendly crowd.
“The first two challenges of the series – explained the Yellow-blue coach – were very different from each other and saw the two teams make the most of their characteristics in front of a friendly crowd. Now I expect even more extreme scenarios than those experienced in previous games; we will be even more subjected to the need to get the result in the presence of an opponent that will do everything to prevent us”.
“This is the history of playoff finals and this will be the challenge on the court – added Soli -: it will be up to us to accept it with serenity, determination and with the sole intention of always expressing the best of ourselves. The deep respect for our opponent necessitates an equal consideration for our talent and abilities”.
On the other hand, Lube powerhouse Giovanni Gargiulo tried to charge the environment aware of the difficulty of overturning the court factor: “I expect a complicated challenge, as the first two were – he said. “The Finals are as beautiful as they are difficult. We should not think too much, but show up in Trento calm and then sweat on every ball and put on the best volleyball we can”.
“This is a year of great news and titled competitions for me, so far the lack of experience I have made up for with grit and character. At home the batting gave us a big hand against Itas, but we have to be focused in every aspect and work well in all the fundamentals to be able to fight and win with wall, offense and defense” added Gargiulo.
Gara-1, played on Sunday, April 27, ended 3-0 for Trentino, with the yellow-blue men able to prevail 25-20, 23-23 and 25-21 in the individual sets. In Civitanova Marche, four days later, however, it was Lube who won three sets to zero, leaving their opponents with 21 points in the first and second sets and 22 points in the third.
