Joao Almeida wins the Tour of Romandie

Portuguese rider Joao Almeida, of UAE Team Emirates-XRG, won the Tour of Romandie by placing second in the final stage, a 17.1-kilometer individual time trial with start and finish in Geneva.

The time trial was dominated by the specialty’s Olympic champion, Belgium’s Remco Evenepoel, of Soudal Quick-Step, who beat Almeida by 12 seconds.

In third place in today&#8217s stage was the champion of Italy Alberto Bettiol (XDS Astana Team), detached by 18″. He who was leader of the general classification, Frenchman Lenny Martinez (Bahrain Victorious, placed 13th at 41 seconds.

In the final overall standings, Almeida was 26″ Lenny Martinez and 41″ Australian Jay Vine his teammate at UAE Team Emirates-XRG. Almeida, 26, has already won six races in 2025, including another short and prestigious stage race, the Tour of the Basque Country.
