Serie A 2024-2025: Empoli-Lazio, the likely lineups

Sunday’s 35th day of the Serie A championship will open with the match between Empoli and Lazio, scheduled for Sunday, May 4, at 12:30 p.m., at the Carlo Castellani Stadium. Empoli is not sailing in calm waters. Roberto D’Aversa’s team currently occupies the penultimate position in the standings (one point below Venezia) but, being -2 from safety, hopes to have a great game against Lazio to continue chasing the fourth-last place. The only three points collected in the last seven games, including a draw in the direct clash against Venezia, does not bode well for the Tuscans, however. Roberto d’Aversa’s team is currently on 25 points in 34 games played.

As for Lazio, however, the Biancocelesti are still chasing the European dream. The setback at home against Parma was a bitter result for Marco Baroni’s team. Lazio is currently seventh in the standings with 60 points from 34 games.

Empoli could come to the challenge against Lazio with its usual 3-4-2-1. Roberto D’Aversa plans to deploy Vásquez to protect the goal, with Goglichidze, Ismajli and Viti closing the defensive rearguard. On the four-man midfield line, Gyasi, Kovalenko (replacing the disqualified Grassi), Anjorin and Pezzella go toward deployment from the first minute. Finally, in the three-quarter, Fazzini and Cacace should act behind forward Sebastiano Esposito.

As for Lazio, Marco Baroni should confirm his 4-2-3-1, with Mandas between the posts and the Mario Gila – Alessio Romagnoli pair completing the defensive package. On the side lanes Nuno Tavares and Lazzari will not be in the match, so Marusic and Luca Pellegrini will be back in their place. In the midfield, the midfield pair formed by Guendouzi and Nicolò Rovella goes toward confirmation from the 1′ minute. Forward, however, the Isaksen-Pedro-Zaccagni trident could be the trio chosen to act behind forward Castellanos.
