Inter’s qualification to the Champions League final, after an incredible double-header against Barcelona, led to the explosion of joy of all Nerazzurri fans, without exception: among them also Beppe Bergomi, for twenty’years a footballer of the Beneamata, who during the commentary for ‘Sky‘ together with Fabio Caressa literally burst into tears at the triple whistle of referee Marciniak, which sanctioned the 4-3 final.

Bergomi played for Inter from 1979 to 1999, wearing the captain’s armband for many seasons and winning an Italian Cup in 1982 (the year he won the World Cup with Enzo Bearzot’s Italian national team), a Scudetto and an Italian Super Cup in 1989, and three Uefa Cups, in 1991, 1994 and 1998, but never taking particular satisfaction in the Champions Cup/Champions League.

Inter Milan made it to the last act of Europe&#8217s top competition for the second time in three years: in the 2022-2023 season, the Nerazzurri had beaten AC Milan 2-0 in the first leg and 1-0 in the return, while this year they struggled against a never tame Barcelona, with the two teams able to deliver a spectacular 3-3 draw in the first leg and an equally pyrotechnic 3-3 draw in the 90′ of the return leg, which turned into a 4-3 draw thanks to Frattesi’s goal on 9′ of the first extra-time.

The Nerazzurri will next face the winner of the other semifinal between PSG and Arsenal in Munich on May 31, which will be played on Wednesday night with the Parisians starting one goal ahead. Inter has already played in Munich this season, in the quarterfinal first leg against Bayern, winning 2-1: even then, as on Tuesday night against Barça, Frattesi had scored the winning goal.
