The match started in the worst way for the Italian, who gave up her serve to zero in the opening set. The reaction of the Florence native, however, was not long in coming, as the counter-break was immediate. From then on, both players exchange partials of two consecutive games won apiece. At 5-5, it is Kudermetova who is more incisive and thanks to two more consecutive games won, she wins the first partial set at 7-5.

In the second set, Stefanini began to suffer from the fatigues of the first partial, and the Russian took advantage right away with a three-games-to-one lead. The Italian tried a minimal reaction d’rgoglio, but another three-games-to-zero stretch by the Kazan native finally closed the score on 6-2.

The Russian was able to win the second set.

In the next round, Veronika Kudurmetova will face the American Amanda Anisimova.
