Fiorentina disappointment, Palladino already looking ahead to next match

No Conference League final. Fiorentina is eliminated, in overtime, by Betis and says goodbye to the possibility of playing a third consecutive final in the tournament. The main goal of the season, the only one left, is gone. Palladino, coach of the Viola (freshly renewed contract until 2027), already wants to think about the next competition.

“We wanted to get to the finals, we didn’t succeed, we have to reset this one and we have to finish the championship well, there are nine points and we can improve our ranking position. This is an injury and I have to be good at managing the group well, but this group has always been able to react to difficulties and will do so this time as well, in the championship there are so many direct clashes and anything can happen”, his words in the post-match.

In fact, the Serie A standings do not smile at all on Fiorentina, which, at the moment, is eighth with 59 points, at – 3 from Bologna (seventh) and -4 from the trio Roma-Lazio-Juventus, engaged in the fight for the last Champions League spot.

Palladino also spoke about the switching of Fagioli, who came off the field decidedly angry about the substitution: “He played almost the entire game, I’substituted him because I wanted to give freshness to the team, I have equally good players on the bench, so he also has to understand, also because he was cautioned and I also needed some’ physicality in the middle”.
