Jack Draper promises battle to Carlos Alcaraz

He suffered more than expected Jack Draper in the round of 16 of the Internazionali d’Italia. The British tennis player, in fact, managed to come out on top in the distance against Frenchman Corentin Moutet by winning in a comeback with a score of 1-6 6-4 6-3. Speaking at the press conference, the world number five, in addition to analyzing his performance, also dwelt on Carlos Alcaraz, his next opponent in the quarterfinals.
“I don“t think I have played against many players like him before today. I felt strange from the very beginning. I started out pretty well, but when we started getting into the match, I felt very uncomfortable. I didn’t know what to do. The first set got a little bit out of hand. In the second one I started from scratch. I knew I had to change some things tactically, like being present on every point, because his level was not going to drop. I am very satisfied with the way I solved the problem. I think I can learn a lot from this match” began the British tennis player.
“This is one of Moutet’s virtues. He puts pressure on his rivals. His drop shots are incredible. Especially on this surface, his best court. From a tactical point of view, I think he had a very clear game plan from the very beginning. He was moving very well on his backhand. He started playing much more on the volley. I was a little bit surprised by the game he put on the court. It’s important at this stage of my career to resolve these kinds of situations like the ones I had today” added the world number five.
“Carlos and I are both in the top five in the world. I don’t think if it’s an elite match or not, I just see two guys playing great tennis, wanting to fight and be competitive. I have a lot of respect for him. It will be very difficult for me to beat him, but I feel confident” concluded Jack Draper.
