Andrea Kimi Antonelli is preparing to face his first, real home Grand Prix at Imola since he has been an official Formula 1 driver. He Bolognese, has high expectations for the rainbow test held in a few miles from where he was born. And his real goal is to create problems with his Mercedes for the dominant McLarens, particularly that of world leader Oscar Piastri.

“I can&#8217t wait until Friday to get on track in Imola – said Antonelli on the sidelines of a promotional event held in Santena -For me it will be my home Grand Prix, it is true, but it is also a track that I have in my heart and that I like very much. I anticipate that I will show up with a special helmet, since it also unfortunately looks like it will be the’last year we will race here”.

“Racing in Imola will be nice and exciting, because all my family, my friends and the Italian fans will be there. However it goes, it will be a special weekend– stressed Antonelli -. On an emotional and mental level it could prove to be quite a challenge, but I am ready to give my best”.

The race will be a good one.

And from this point of view, with a Mercedes back to high levels of competitiveness, there are those who hope for a new battle on the track between him and Oscar Piastri. From this point of view, Antonelli has spoken clearly: “In Miami I learned how one can and should behave on the first lap. Maybe I didn&#8217t do it in the best way, but for sure next time I&#8217ll put a little more guile into it. Certainly I have yet to gain so much experience, but I will have many opportunities in which to accumulate it”.
